Survive the Holidays with just $2.99!

25 Nov

With the holidays upon us, I’m looking for any break that I can grab.  Any single moment to myself where I’m not bombarded by requests for my time or ever-growing task lists.  Why is it that Halloween to Christmas is the most hectic, hurried part of the year?  I’ve worked hard all year, I just want peace.  I just want to survive the holidays!

Cue Jill Smokler’s newest creation…Scary Mommy’s Guide to Surviving the Holidays. This book promised some much needed laughs and great recipes and it delivered on both.

Here’s what Jill said about it:

It’s filled with everything you need to survive the fall/winter rush of cheer in style… without having a mental breakdown. From relatable, hilarious essays on everything from the Santa myth to being seated at the dreaded kids’ table, to easy-to-follow recipes that might include just a little something special to take the edge off (can anyone say Kahlua?), to fun and accessible gift ideas, this book is your ticket to peace of mind—and a laugh—during the busy, crazy holiday season.

My favorite stories were:

6 Reasons the kids’ table is the best seat in the house by Andrea Condodemetraky of Mamalode.  Let’s face it, the little ones get to eat first and can get away with murder during the formal celebrations!

Hanukkah wins by Deborah Goldstein of Peaches and Coconuts.  I have to admit to being one of those Christ loving kids that always wanted 8 days of presents.

The best part of this book, other than the amazing authors and helpful “tips”, is that the proceeds of all sales benefit Scary Mommy Nation’s Thanksgiving Project.  You can literally feed families when you buy this book.  I purchased a few to give out to my friends and I was gifted a copy in order to review it.  I love knowing that I just fed some hungry babies!

So don’t forget to get yourself a little present this year (buy the book here) and curl up in some long forgotten corner of your world to just enjoy the quiet.  Heck, hide in your car if you have too…we don’t judge!

Happy Holidays!
