Paint Your Nails

28 Sep

I am the mother of a teenager. So it goes without saying, that our home is knee deep in cosmetics. Makeup of every color and variety can be found throughout these walls. Much to my husband’s chagrin, one of our daughter’s favorites is fingernail polish. I’m sure many men will agree that it’s not always the most pleasant smell, first the acetone remover and then the actual polish. You can get quite the headache; although it doesn’t bother me nearly as much.

If you are looking for a simple pick-me-up to your outfit or just want to highlight that beautiful sparkler you have on your hand, polish is the way to go. I love all kinds of polish; colors, textures, embellishments and even plain old clear gloss. There is just something about it that makes your hand suddenly seem so fancy. I’m not as adventurous with my fingernails as I am with my toes but once in awhile, I’ll try something really different!

The best part of fingernail painting is the time it takes me and my daughter to do it together. I love spending time with her. It’s amazing what you learn when she’s just unabashedly chatting away; her mind preoccupied on getting the tiny brush covered in the luxurious paint and onto my fingers perfectly. It truly is bonding at its best and nothing at the mall salon can compete.

How to Nail Art

We recently purchased a beautiful plum gel color to try out. Gel is fun because it stays on your nails for up to 10 days. I like that once it’s cured, you are ready to go. I don’t have to flap around like a chicken waving my hands in the air hoping not to touch anything. I love the new color! It’s deep, rich and shiny; almost looks like my favorite (dark brown) at first glance. When you see the color outside or under soft lighting, you can see that it has the same deep plum sparkles throughout. It’s perfect for work or a night out with my hubby. And we found the color is appropriate for the younger crowd too!

Look at how cute my nails turned out.
