Jungle Gym Jam CD review

17 Feb

Helicopter Mom and Just Plane Dad were asked to review the Jungle Gym Jam CD.  Our review and #giveaway are below and we are honored to work with Jason Didner.  We received a copy of the CD in order to offer our honest opinion.

Jason Didner, host of the Cool Rockin’ Daddy Video Show, and founder of the kiddie band, Jungle Gym Jam, is releasing the band’s first official album.  Together with his wife Amy, Jason Didner created the tunes and wholesome lyrics appropriate for the younger set.

We loved the message inherit in each of the songs: kindness, friendship, learning and most importantly for young ones…imagination.  The songs are upbeat, fast paced and immediately bring to mind pictures of animals and inanimate objects having a great time.

Even though I have a teenage daughter, I found myself sitting in my SUV giggling at the lyrics and enjoying the fast paced tempo. My personal fave, track 3, FIVE SEA LIONS.  Living and raising my daughter in Florida, we often visit the local amusement parks and the sea lions are always a hit.  So that particular animal holds a sweet spot in my heart.

To get to the heart of the song and something of interest to parents…it helps your child have a great time while learning.  Counting, sharing, anti-bullying and exercise are all messages that your children will hear as they repeat the songs over and over.  And trust me, they’ll want to listen to this CD over and over; it’s catchy.

Jason, together with his bandmates, Casey McCleary (guitar), Judy Helbig (bass), Meg Beattie (guitar) and Ross Kantor (drums) have strong melodic voices and really seem to enjoy being together.  Not everyone that’s musically gifted has a passion for song; it’s obvious this group does.  And I fully appreciate anything that can remind my kid to “put down the video games” and head outside!

My girls LOVE music! We listen to it in the truck when driving anywhere… it has kept us sane for 18 hour drives back to visit our families. 🙂 Plus it has generated lots of great questions (“Mommy, why did they sing…”) and learning opportunities. 🙂

I’m not a musically inclined person… but my husband is. Our basement is a recording studio and he still plays with the guys he played with in highschool. Music is a constant in our house… and our girls are picking up his love for playing instruments. We’ve heard Jungle Gym Jam before… and the music is always so fun.

I love singing with my kids. We sing all kinds of things. Music helps us learn new things and give us great memory anchors. (And I love kids’ music!!)

Well good luck to you hope you win. I always did (and still do) sing with and to my daughter. It’s been a thread between us that we have in common. The music has changed of course, but the fun memories that we recall with each song are always there.
